SERVICE PROCEDURES
Component Access
Tools Required - The Burr
Coffee Mill can be serviced with a 5/32" Allen wrench, a large flat
screwdriver and a medium #2 Phillips Screwdriver. Powered tools are not
recommended when servicing this product.
Service Procedures
The Workplace - Servicing the Pro Line Model KPCG100 Burr Coffee Mill will require
a clean, dry and well lighted workplace. To protect the finish of the unit,
the workplace surface should be cushioned with a protective cloth or carpet.
Your Electrical Service Workplace should comply with all Local, Regional
and National Electrical Codes. The Burr Coffee Mill is disconnected from
the AC outlet during this service process, except for the initial test run
discussed in Step #3.
1. - On any Burr Coffee Mill requiring service
remove the Coffee Bin, Bean Hopper and Bean Hopper Lid. Inspect for damage
and set away from the work area. If the glass is cracked the part must be
replaced.

2. - Rotate the Grind Control Dial and note
if binding occurs. If binding is noted go to step #5. Confirm that all of
the 15 detents exist by counting them (1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9-10-11-12-13-14-15)
as you rotate the dial.

3. - Make sure the Burr Coffee Mill is in
the "Off" position. Plug the unit into a 3-Prong Outlet and carefully
set it in the proper upright position. If the unit sets unevenly, all of
the rubber feet should be replaced. Place the Grind Control to "1"
(Coarse) then turn the On/Off Switch to the "On" position to clear
any residual coffee from inside the Burr Coffee Mill.
4. - Unplug the Burr Coffee Mill and clean
the residual coffee from the work area before you continue. NOTE: What follows
is a "Cleaning Process" that would be appropriate for Burr Coffee
Mills with low hours. Actual Burr replacement would be required on units
that have ground 600-800 pounds of coffee or units that have been severely
abused.
5. - Using a flat-head screwdriver, turn
the two faceplate screws counter-clockwise until the faceplate assembly
is free. The faceplate screws have retaining clips that prevent them from
being removed from the faceplate assembly.
6. - Carefully slide the faceplate assembly
away from the motor housing. A separate burr-shaft assembly on the inside
of the motor housing will usually slide out with the face plate assembly.
Place a hand under the burr-shaft assembly to prevent it from falling as
the faceplate assembly is removed. If the burr-shaft assembly does not slide
out with the face-plate assembly, grasp the center shaft of the burr-shaft
assembly and renove it from the housing.

7. - Using the burr-cleaning brush, clean
the burr mounted on the burr-shaft assembly and the burr mounted within
the motor housing. NOTE: On badly abused units compressed air can be used
to dislodge coffee remnants from the Burrs. Always wear eye protection when
using compressed air.
8. - After cleaning, tilt the grinder backward
so the front of the motor housing faces upward. Now that both burrs are
clean, carefully inspect them for wear or damage.
9. - With the corkscrew-shaped auger shaft
facing into the motor housing, insert the burr-shaft assembly into the grinder.
Keep the burr-shaft assembly level, so the tip of the auger shaft will line
up with the small socket in the motor housing.
10. - Once the burr-shaft assembly is in
the motor housing, rotate the assembly until it falls into place. When correctly
positioned, the burr-shaft assembly cannot be rotated.
11. - Place the faceplate assembly onto the
motor housing. Make sure the numbers on the grind level ring are positioned
across the top of the assembly. Using your fingers, tighten the faceplate
screws by turning them clockwise. Alternate tightening the screws, keeping
them even. Do not completely tighten one screw without tightening the other.
12. - After the faceplate screws have been
finger-tightened, use a large flat-head screwdriver to tighten them until
snug.
13. - Place the grinder upright. It is now
ready for use, but refer to the Burr Adjustment
Section to adjust the burrs if specified by the customer.
14. - Wipe any coffee remnants from the unit
with a clean soft cloth.
15. - Repackage the Burr Coffee Mill for
return to the customer. Be sure that the Cleaning Brush, Coffee Bin, Bean
Hopper and Bean Hopper Lid are included with the unit you are returning.
